The R0X07A utilizes a buffer chip to “hide” the electrical load of its 8 ranks from the CPU’s memory controller. This allows the server to maintain higher operating frequencies even when all memory slots are populated, which is critical for reaching the 1.5TB to 3TB+ total memory thresholds required by modern data centers.

3DS (Three-Dimensional Stacking)

To achieve a 128GB capacity on a single DDR4 module, HPE uses 3DS technology with Through-Silicon Via (TSV). This process vertically stacks DRAM dies, allowing for extreme density without increasing the physical size of the DIMM or significantly raising the power profile.
